What is Mexico's deal all of a sudden?

I don't understand why we're getting all these stories about how Mexico's racist against Blacks. I mean, it seems like this has been going on a long time and is just now getting out.

"Don't feed it. It's not used to it."

I attended a party last night thrown by an eclectic group of worldly 30-somethings. These folks were like something straight out of a Lonely Planet guidebook. They talked about travel and camping and writing music and filmmaking and touring with bands and writing.

There were people from all over the world at this thing, including a Brazilian, a Cuban, and a Lithuanian, among others. There was a half housecat/half ocelot on a leash that would forcefully knock over plates to get what it wanted, and a 12-year-old kid who described the origins of emerging artist M.I.A. with emphatic quotation marks: "She's *QUOTATION gesture* Sri Lankan *QUOTATION gesture*."

I just don't know how to describe the party, it was that unusual.

When I was in high school, I kinda thought that I would grow up to be just like these people, but with only ten years to go, I don't think I will morph into the scene like I believed I would.

More on that guy...

Here is an interesting analysis of the whole water-squirting debacle.

Bwah!

I have to share this again.

Too happy?

Recently, Steven Spielberg remarked that the press "punished" Tom Cruise for his open displays of affection towards Katie Holmes.

At first, I wasn't sure if I agreed with Spielberg's choice of words, but if he meant this type of punishment, then I wholeheartedly agree.

My assessment: Tom Cruise is at the receiving end of the public's ire (mine included) because he's fucking 42 years old and acting like he's 12. Plus... Tom, who cares if you've found love and Scientology on top of millions of our hard-earned cash that we spend on your movies and then in turn, you spend on a droopy-faced non-actor, Holmes? And then you rub it in our faces?

Shut up Tom Cruise.

Now Steven Spielberg admonishes people for being mean to his muse? Shut up Steven Spielberg.

Tom Cruise is fun to make fun of because he's so g-ddamn emotional all the time. We know we can get a rise out him, and he makes it so easy!

Spotted on the way back from my break at work...

Three teenaged Asian-American girls pulled over by the fuzz, standing on the sidewalk with their hands cuffed behind their backs.

I wonder what happened? Drug bust? DUI? Underage prostitution ring?

These are the movies I have viewed during the past month:

Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith - C+

Tom Cruise is officially crazy

I saw Batman Begins last night! It was very good... mostly I was surprised at the change from the previous films in the series, mainly an emphasis on CHARACTER and STORY rather than FX and the supervillains. Man, I was impressed and entertained. There were 5 major characters portrayed by British actors. Cillian Murphy is lover-ly.

Katie Holmes... not so much.

Celeb Watch

Add Giovanni Ribisi to the list. My roommates and I ate out tonight and we saw him picking up takeout for like 15 minutes.

Interesting

This post was from March 1st, this year. Notice how it still applies.

No wonder my teeth were falling out in my dreams... Lately, I've been pretty cranky. Nearly everything cheeses me off. This was not the case last year. I was pretty happy. I thought I was happy this year, too, but now, I never know what's gonna set me off. Unfortunately, some of my peers have been at the receiving end of my fury. Not to mention a few strangers. All I want is for someone to understand what I'm talking about and where I'm coming from. I feel like I am screaming at the top of my lungs, and no one can hear me.

Ch-ch-ch-changes!

I have removed Mike from the links list because he hasn't updated since March. I really hope he's not dead or something.

In lieu of his illustrious stories, I have provided none other than the blog of glorious Alice who is betrothed to NotK-Fed! Kev.

Her blog, I like. Great writer, she is.

X & Y

Well, I streamed the new Coldplay album today.

Baby songs.

That's all I can think of to describe it. And that's a shame because I really loved these guys when I bought Parachutes in 2001. I just can't understand how fame can cause musical artistry to decline so steeply. I mean, I loved every bit of Parachutes... I could only bring myself to download 4 tracks from A Rush of Blood..., and now, I hate every bit of X & Y.

Vitriol, I know... but maybe I just resent what they are now. Coldplay is comprised of a bunch of smart guys. They were able to capitalize on their talent and Chris's looks. And it makes me wonder what am I doing with myself. I am spinning my wheels, that's what. I am a totally different person now than I was in 2001 when I bought their album. Back then, I was emotionally at rock bottom -- much lower than I am now. Back then, I was filled with sadness, and now, (most of the time, but especially after listening to their album) I am brimming with rage. Back then, Coldplay was an antidote to the dreck on the radio and on MTV. (I can't watch MTV without feeling bile rising in my throat.) Now, I wouldn't download one of their songs for free.

Coldplay blows because I've found something to hate about them.

I hate how I had already heard the song, "Fix You" on The OC (a show I love to hate).

Coldplay has sold out and sold out and sold out. (I typed it three times for em-phass-is.*)

I HATE them for that. This is the feeling of true betrayal that I kinda thought I was feeling when the drummer from The Strokes hooked up with Drew Barrymore, but was actually nowhere near the feeling I get when I listen to this streamed s-h-i-t.

*That was my one Gwyneth reference, so chew it and enjoy it as it goes down because that's the last one you'll get from me in a looooong time.
