Pointing Fingers

Have you ever pointed your finger at someone? Ever since we became functioning members of society, we've been told never to "point fingers." Why is there so much power in the pointed finger? Literally raising a finger in another's direction instigates an immediate feeling of betrayal or of being attacked or an attitude that the pointer has failed to take responsibility. Try it sometime. When someone asks for an answer, point your finger at someone else. When a person wants to know who is responsible, regardless if it is you or another, point your finger. When you make an accusation, point your finger. There is a distinct sense of power that stems from this single action.
